365 days of 2013

Image
Hello 3 rd day of 2013. I can’t believe this is my 1 st post for this year. I should have my 1 st post on the 1 st day of the year. Anyway, I’m not sure why I forgot to write on the 1 st day, maybe I was having a holiday hangover (no alcohol present, of course). Right now, I am leaving 2012 with the good, bad, sad and happy memories. The best part of my 2012 for me was my boyfriend is finally home. He just got back from a year and one month work outside the country. The saddest part was my two grannies died because of illness. I have to summarize my 2012 through this collage I made. I can’t fit all the photos here since I have to utilize the space provided. Don’t ask why most of them are couple photos hehe I love this year cause my boypran is here to witness my achievements and failures. He’s my adviser and my listener. You have no idea how many times he seen me crying my eyes out with all the heartaches. He cried, laugh and dance with me this year. He is genuinely my ...

Cloudy days don't last forever

Image
Yesterday the Typhoon Pablo (international name BOPHA) hits CDO, the city where I was currently living. Not just CDO but all over Mindanao and Visayas. Its the 16th storm here in our country already. The aftermath of the storm is not the same as Sendong since people are more aware that a super typhoon is coming. People are more ready and evacuated already knowing that this storm will hit hard. I'm happy knowing that  there are zero casualties here in CDO however houses were flooded near the river.  The storm brought heavy rain and strong wind. Good thing my phone batteries are full, I can still contact my friends and loved ones however the signal is choppy. I managed to took a photo that time. heavy rain outside, the roof in our store took flight because of the strong wind. I took these photos after the storm.

Palm Sunday and Facing the Giants

Image
PALM SUNDAY . It has been a year that I went to church alone with the similar event. This year, I'm unaccompanied again. Well, it’s not that bad to be alone sometimes.  Alone but not lonely or sad.  I decided to attend church on the evening instead in the morning. I usually woke up late in a Sunday morning. Good thing, my mama and my little brother went early for mass. They have a blessed palm branch when they got home. One reason why I decided to attend mass late is that I want to watch the movie Facing the Giants in the afternoon. It was a recommended movie and it has a good rating in IMDB. Facing the Giants is truly an inspiring movie. The situation in the movie was realistic; you can have the same problem like Coach Grant has. You are bombarded with a lot of problems in life that makes you want to give up.  He was having a bad year being a coach in the football team and the school board members want him out, worst thing is he discovered that he was sterile; he...

How Great is Our God: with Louie Giglio

Image
“ Do not think that love, in order to be genuine, has to be extraordinary. What we need is to love without getting tired. ” — Mother Teresa  source How's everyone? I hope you are all well. So this is what I did last Jan 1,2012. I have this video for a long time when shenani shared this to me. She sends me the Youtube URL and I have the IDM that time so I decided to download it right away so that I can watch the video anytime.  I love this video so much, Louie Giglio is amazing! I love the way he used Science to make us realized how great is our GOD. I am super overwhelmed. I love Science so much, if you think you'll be bored in watching this video, think again. Louie Giglio h...

What is forgiveness?

Image
Today’s homily is all about forgiveness. I thought of it for awhile and I said it’s so hard to forgive someone who made your life miserable, isn’t it? I’m only human; I can get angry and hate that someone, a natural instinct especially when I’ve been hurt badly. But God can forgive us that easy. Is it because God is not a human? Or God loves us that much that he doesn’t want to lose us? Matthew 18:21-25 is about the Parable of the Unmerciful Servant. 21   Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?”  22  Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.   23   “Therefore, the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants.  24  As he began the settlement, a man who owed him ten thousand bags of gold   was brought to him.  25  Since he was not able to pay, the  master ordered th...

A Memo from GOD

Image
I wanna share something. This was from my friend Janice, so I would like to share it. It's nice to reflect once in awhile.  To:YOU  Date: TODAY  From: THE BOSS  Subject:YOURSELF  Reference: LIFE  Author: Sis Jhet I am God. Today I will be handling all of your problems. Please remember that I do not need your help.  If life happens to deliver a situation to you that you cannot handle, do not attempt to resolve it. Kindly put it in the SFGTD (something for God to do) box. All situations will be resolved, but in My time, not yours. Once the matter is placed into the box, do not hold onto it by worrying about it. Instead, focus on all the wonderful things that are present in your life now. If you find yourself stuck in traffic; Don’t despair. There are people in this world for whom driving is an unheard of privilege. Should you have a bad day at work; Think of the man who has been out of work for years!  Sour...

For the Greater Good

St. Lorenzo Ruiz: "That I shall never do, because I am a Christian and I shall die for God, and for Him I will give many thousands of lives if I had them. And so do with me as you will please." I heard this one on TV while Father  Mario of Healing Mass had his homily. He talked about King Solomon and his request to God and about the story of St. Lorenzo Ruiz. It caught my attention about King Solomon requested something to God. God can offer anything that you desire but this is what King Solomon said to the Lord: “I am but a small child ... Give therefore your servant an understanding heart to judge your people…”  God's response:   “Because you have not requested riches and honor but only that which would benefit all the people, I will give you not only an understanding heart like none other before or after you ... but also riches and honor like no other king in your days.” (1 Kings 3:7-13)  King Solomon died at the age of 52 and ruled f...

Live at peace with everyone

Image
https://www.flickr.com/photos/lifesongsradio/16704740095 As much as possible I want to live at peace with everyone, live at peace with the world, embracing all the goodness the world offers.  I don’t want to look back but my past molded me to become a better person. Nobody can ever tell that I’ve been through rough times when I was still a kid. I think it’s a trauma but that doesn’t give me any reason to be negative about my views in life.  God opened a new window to me, He knows I’ve been through a lot and He doesn’t want me to suffer. The people in my life are not perfect neither myself. I have relationship war with my siblings when I was still young. But I know how to distance myself from not getting into that kind of situation again. It was hard to be at a constant war with your siblings. It was a blessing for me to find God. He’s a good listener, I cried a lot every time I talked to him all about my worries and sentiments, and I’m not like that with anyone else, ...

Palm Sunday

Today is Palm Sunday! It's a moveable feast for Christian worshiper which is held before the Easter Sunday.  I went to church today and it was most likely the second time I went to church alone. Outside the cathedral, busy children are making different designs of palm branches and they would usually sell it cheap. I bought one from a little girl, the design was a cross with a rose behind it, she even praised my outfit, she said, "nice keu imung gisuot te"(your outfit looks good on you). I was shocked she told me that but I just told her "nah! dili man"(i don't think so) hehe. I remembered back then when I used to make different designs of palm branches with my cousin, it was a mess and my cousin used to correct all my works haha! We have to make our own since it was better and more personalized ika nga. But I didn't get the picture why we celebrate Palm Sunday. I mean, what's the significance of this day? According to the story, Jesus return...

Imagine ME without YOU

This song touched me deep inside. I heard this one on a video presentation of my friend  Jezreel  on his 21st birthday. The song somehow reached me through my deepest thoughts. There is something about the song that I can't explain and  somehow burst me into an overwhelming gratitude. It was really something -  DIFFERENT . I can't imagine my LIFE without  GOD .  I'd be a lost girl now if not because of HIM, that's why I thank HIM so much for giving me an amazing life. He is the one who gives me strength to face my battles. He gives me hope when I was running out of it. He is still my ultimate savior. As long as stars shine down from Heaven And the rivers run into the sea Till the end of time, forever You're the only love I'll need In my life You're all that matters In my eyes the only truth I see When my hopes and dreams have shattered You're the one that's there for me When I found You I was blessed And I will ...

STILL

Image
STILL Hide me now Under Your wings Cover me Within Your mighty hand When the oceans rise and thunders roar I will soar with You above the storm Father you are King over the flood I will be still and know You are God Find rest my soul In Christ alone Know His power In quietness and trust When the oceans rise and thunders roar I will soar with You above the storm Father You are king over the flood I will be still and know You are God - i did not intend to interpret this song but it just occurred to me while singing the song. The song comes in images for me....i was taken back to when God decided to flood the earth...yeah Noah's time...the famous ark. It was very dark and you could not tell from the inside if it is already night or day for time is not essential anymore..the earth is covered with so much dark that if you look outside  not even the moon's reflection can be seen. It keeps on raining and from time to tim...

Shout to the Lord!

Image
Shout to the Lord! My Jesus, my savior, Lord, there is none like you. All of my days, I want to praise, The wonders of your mighty love. My comfort, my shelter, Tower of refuge and strength. Let every breath, all that I am, Never cease to worship you. Shout to the lord, all the earth let us sing. Power and majesty, praise to the king. Mountains bow down, and the seas will roar, At the sound of your name. I sing for joy at the work of your hands, Forever I'll love you, Forever I'll stand. Nothing compares to the promise I have In you. My Jesus, my savior. Lord, there is none like you. All of my days, I want to praise, The wonders of your mighty love. My comfort, my shelter, Tower of refuge and strength. Let every breath, all that I am, Never cease to worship you.

Teach me to pray

Image
How often do you pray? Do you pray when you hit the hay?Do you pray when you wake up in the morning? Do you pray before and after eating? Do you pray before working?  Well, prayer is the most important thing that sometimes we forgot to do. It's nice to stop for awhile and pray. God is asking a little moment with us, a moment sometimes we are unable to share with him. It's good to reflect once in a while. :) I wanna share this prayer. A prayer from St. Ignatius Loyola. Dearest Lord, Teach Me To Be Generous Dearest Lord,  Teach me to be generous, teach me to serve you as I should, to give and not to count the cost, to fight and not to heed the wounds, to toil and not to seek for rest, to labour and ask not for reward, save that of knowing that I do your most holy will.

Heaven is so Real

Image
Choo Thomas tells a remarkable story of her encounters with Jesus Christ, where she visited heaven many times and saw hell twice.  Her book, "Heaven is so Real" is more than just a book - it is Christ's loving message to a generation that has largely forgotten, misunderstood or is indifferent about Him. This book will touch your heart and soul and will challenge you to live a life of obedience and purity like you have never done before.  Choo Thomas  I want to buy one ^^ I read some chapters. It was a good book. I hope I could buy one asap...

Lesson in Unconditional Love

Image
I am a mother of three (ages 14, 12, 3) and have recently completed my college degree. The last class I had to take was Sociology. The teacher was absolutely inspiring with the qualities that I wish every human being had been graced with. Her last project of the term was called "Smile". The class was asked to go out and smile at three people and document their reaction. I am a very friendly person and always smile at everyone and say hello anyway.....so, I thought, this would be a piece of cake (literally). Soon after we were assigned the project, my husband, youngest son, and I went out to McDonalds, one crisp March morning. It was just our way of sharing special play time with our son. We were standing in line, waiting to be served, when all of a sudden everyone around us began to back away, and then even my husband did. I did not move an inch...an overwhelming feeling of panic welled up inside of me as I turned to see why they had moved. As I turned aro...
